I honestly do not think that anyone can tackle this sin on their own.  It is so involved in everyday life with constant triggers everywhere.  I started young with daddy's magazines and that was easy to put away (out of sight, out of mind).  When the internet became easy to access, pornography became too "in your face" and almost impossible to turn away.  I had tried so many times on my own and failed miserably.  The damage it was causing my marriage was becoming unrepairable.  I am, obviously, active in church and the sin was becoming too heavy to bare.  Pornography is such a "closet sin" that it even alienates you from your strongest brothers and sisters in Christ.  I am now free from pornography and gettng stronger everyday.  I can confidently speak with others about the dangers of pornography and what the Bible tells us without feeling guilty about my own addiction.
